Replacement handsets for all T-Mobile customers free of charge

Public 14.06.2004 in category Press News / Services, Pricing, Handsets

  • Free loan of a replacement handset to all customers during a period of repair
  • Many types of handsets; clients should receive handsets of the same brand and category
  • Minor repairs of Siemens handsets done while you wait at selected Retail Shops

Prague, 14 June 2004 - As of today, every T-Mobile customer may borrow, in the event of a breakdown of their mobile phone, a replacement phone free of charge at any T-Mobile Retail Shop for the entire period of repair. Although repair times are getting shorter and shorter all the time and usually last only a few days, hardly anybody can do without a phone. "We decided to extend the number of replacement handsets so nobody has to be afraid that they will be out of touch if their handsets break down," explains Jiri Hajek, the spokesman for T-Mobile.

T-Mobile has significantly extended the portfolio of mobile handsets which is available at each Retail Shop for the purpose of loans. T-Mobile now offers a wide range of handsets of various brands (Alcatel, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Sharp, Siemens, Sony Ericsson) in various categories.

If a customer brings his/her broken phone to a T-Mobile Retail Shop, the customer may borrow a handset of the same brand and category for the period of repair of his/her phone. "The offer now includes handsets, such as the Sony Ericsson T630, Sharp TM100 or Motorola V300," says Jiri Hajek. The portfolio of replacement handsets is to be renewed approximately once a year and it should thus correspond to current types of handsets used by customers.

"We have always tried to provide customers with favourable solutions, even beyond what the law requires. The law provides a 30-day period for a repair without it being necessary to provide a replacement product. We have shortened repair times to the lowest extent possible and we currently provide replacement handsets of the same category free of charge," adds Jiri Hajek.

T-Mobile has been lending spare handsets for the period of repairs for some time already. So far, it has not, however, guaranteed 100% availability or such a wide range of brands and types. Owners of prepaid cards will just provide a deposit in the value of the loaned handset. Users of standard tariffs do not have to provide a deposit. Handsets are loaned free of charge. "Business customers who have concluded a key account contract do not even have to visit a Retail Shop - they can just call the Infoline and report a breakdown, and we will arrange for the pick-up of the broken phone and delivery of a replacement phone at our own expense," says Jiri Hajek.

Six selected Retail Shops now offer assistance with minor repairs of Siemens handsets (so-called first-level repairs). "Some minor repairs are very easy and thanks to our co-operation with Siemens, we now can, in selected shops, solve the problems directly on the spot," explains Jiri Hajek.
