Prague, 4 August 2004 - At the beginning of August, T-Mobile started the second annual charity e-auction on its corporate intranet. Each of the 2,500 employees can bid for the products at auction which were made by children and adults from ten special schools and various social centers and institutions in the regions of Hradec Kralove and Chomutov. The auction proceeds will be directed to the participating organizations. A symbolic cheque will be presented by Managing Director Roland Mahler to the Hradec Kralove Mayor during the Jazz Goes to Town festival which will be held at the end of October.
This year's offer of products at auction is really wide. There are over 80 items at auction, which is twice as much compared with last year, when T-Mobile employees raised more than CZK 30,000. "The auction proceeds were actually higher, as the company topped up the amount to CZK 100,000,? says Ales Janku, Executive Vice President Corporate Affairs, and adds: "It will be interesting to see how much will be raised this year, as more than CZK 20,000 were raised already on the second day of the auction.?
The auction rules are simple. Employees select from the products at auction according to their pictures and brief descriptions on the intranet and click on the "Make a higher bid? button. The system automatically changes the current owner of the product and increases the price by CZK 50. The employee who owns the relevant product at the time of termination of the auction will become its final owner.
The auction is organized by T-Mobile within the project of regional support in Hradec Kralove and Louny, where T-Mobile opened its Regional Centres. T-Mobile, as one of the major employers in these areas, strives to contribute to the development of the social life and strengthen the relationships with the local people and institutions by supporting cultural, sports and charity activities.
