T- Mobile EDGE in ten cities already and keeps expanding

High-speed mobile internet available in 10 larger cities, dozens of locations to follow
EDGE still at the same price as GPRS
Eight types of EDGE-enabled handsets offered

Prague, 2 May 2005 - Customers may already use T-Mobile EDGE which allows them to access the internet at speeds up to five times higher than the dial-up connection via a fixed line, in ten cities. In addition to Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Olomouc, Pilsen and Ceske Budejovice, EDGE is now also available in Hradec Kralove, Frydek Mistek, Havirov and Orlova.

The coverage keeps expanding - within the next few months, EDGE will be available in the following towns and cities: Bohumin, Dubi, Hlucin, Chodov, Jablonec nad Nisou, Karlovy Vary, Kladno, Krupka, Liberec, Mlada Boleslav, Napajedla, Opava, Otrokovice, Pardubice, Petrvald, Prostejov, Roztoky, Rychvald, Ricany, Stare Mesto, Senov, Slapanice, Teplice, Uherske Hradiste, Usti nad Labem, Vratimov and Zlin.

EDGE coverage is gradually being extended and customers may already use or will be able to use EDGE within a very short time in the selected areas in the towns and cities mentioned above. In the course of the next few months, EDGE will be available in most of the territory of the above-mentioned towns and cities and possibly in surrounding smaller towns. Detailed maps showing current EDGE coverage will be available at http://www.t-mobile.cz in the course of May.

Customers will certainly like T-Mobile's price policy - with respect to market development, the operator does not intend to charge the planned extra fee for speed. Customers may therefore use the unlimited internet connection for the same price as the GPRS connection, which means prices starting at as low as CZK 649 excl. VAT (772.31 incl. VAT) per month within Tariff T-Mobile Data Unlimited Special. This monthly fee covers not only unlimited data transmission but also 80 free minutes for calls within the T-Mobile network. The tariff offer is valid through 30 June 2005 and may be used when activating a new SIM card or when switching from Twist. With a standard voice tariff, customers may activate a data addon called Unlimited for the price of CZK 699 (831.81 incl. VAT) per month and thus use data transmission via EDGE.

Those interested in fast mobile data transfer can select one of the eight EDGE-enabled handsets which are currently offered by T-Mobile - Nokia 3220, 5140, 6230, 6630, 9300 and 9500, Motorola V547 and the PCMCIA Option EDGE Combo data card.

EDGE offers the fastest internet access via a mobile phone: in the case of a phone configuration of 4 + 2 timeslots, the data transmission speed reaches up to 236.8 kb/s when downloading data or up to 118.4 kb/s when sending data. The typical data transmission speed ranges between 150 and 220 kb/s. The speed varies by location and time depending on the strength and, particularly, quality of the signal. One of the advantages of this technology is the convenient and simple connection for which you only need an EDGE-enabled phone. The phone and computer set-up is identical with the set-up for GPRS, which allows a smooth transition from EDGE to GPRS and vice versa, depending on the availability of EDGE technology. Such transition does not affect the data flow; only the transmission speed will be slower.
