  • Robert Chvatal to leave T-Mobile Slovensko as of March 1, 2007; nominated to become a Managing Director of T-Mobile Austria
  • Milan Vasina nominated to succeed Robert Chvatal subject to Board approval

BRATISLAVA, January 19, 2007 - Robert Chvatal, the Managing Director of T-Mobile Slovensko ("The Company" or "T-Mobile Slovakia") and member of the Company's Board of Directors will leave T-Mobile Slovensko at the end of February 2007. Chvatal is nominated to become the Managing Director of T-Mobile Austria starting March 1, 2007. He decided to accept the nomination to this challenging position from T-Mobile International Executive Management Board. Subject to T-Mobile Slovakia Board of Directors' approval, Robert Chvatal will be succeeded by Milan Vasina, the current Chief Marketing Officer of the Company.

Robert Chvatal started his tenure with T-Mobile Slovensko in May, 2002, by being promoted from the position of the Marketing Director and member of the Board of Directors of T-Mobile Czech Republic.

"Robert Chvatal successfully led the rebranding efforts at T-Mobile Slovakia, which was not just a change of names but a full integration into T-Mobile International. I look forward to the opportunity to continue working with him in his new position. Also, I am happy to be able to nominate Milan Vasina - the current Marketing Director of T-Mobile Slovakia - a well known face - as his successor," said Hamid Akhavan, CEO of T-Mobile International, commenting on management changes at T-Mobile Slovensko.

During his almost five-year tenure with T-Mobile Slovensko, the Company under Chvatal's leadership achieved several important milestones and witnessed steady improvement in performance in most key parameters.

Between 2002 - 2006, T-Mobile Slovensko has been continuously improving its SIM market share vs. Orange Slovensko to reach the current estimated 45%. The year 2006 was the most successful both in terms of revenues and EBITDA, with an ending customer count of 2.2 million and share of contract customers in total base reaching 44%.

Robert Chvatal led the re-branding process from EuroTel Bratislava to T-Mobile Slovensko in 2005, which resulted in full integration into T-Mobile International group. In line with the international structure, Chvatal also supported the organizational structure of the Company being transformed into the matrix organization aligned by both segments and functions.

At the end of last year, T-Mobile Slovensko capitalized on the entry of the 3rd mobile player into the Slovak market by closing a long-term national roaming deal with Telefonica O2. The outgoing CEO was also instrumental in putting together a business concept for the introduction of Qualcomm`s Flarion Flash-OFDM wireless broadband technology in Slovakia. This resulted in the world's first nationwide commercial deployment and T-Mobile Slovakia took the lead in the mobile broadband market.

Chvatal's focus in the past two years was on the company culture. He championed the company realignment towards service culture, putting customer centricity at the core of the company's endeavors and focusing on execution.

Michael Guenther, chairman of the Board of Directors, T-Mobile Slovensko thanked Robert Chvatal for his tenure with the company in Slovakia and stated on the occasion: "In the five years at the helm of T-Mobile Slovakia, Robert Chvatal increased the company's profitability and overall performance and hands over a highly successful business to his nominated successor, Milan Vasina."

"My current feelings combine sadness and satisfaction. On one hand it makes me sad to part with our excellent team, to leave the tough competitor and leave the country in which I felt truly at home. On the other hand, I feel satisfaction stemming from having been able to personally share in the success of T-Mobile in Slovakia and from being entrusted to manage another venture from T-Mobile International group. I am grateful to all my colleagues from T-Mobile and Slovak Telekom, business partners and customers in Slovakia for their support. I am fully aware of the fact that I would not be where I am without people that surround me. New challenges are awaiting me ahead, but I will never forget the time spent in Slovakia," said Robert Chvatal, announcing his departure to his co-workers this morning.
