Prague, 23 September 2008 - Digital music is becoming increasingly popular in the Czech Republic as is evidenced by the sales figures of t-music PLAY!, the largest Czech digital music store, which has over one million songs on offer and a growing number of customers. With sales of 26,000 tunes each month, t-music PLAY! is not only the largest but also the most successful digital music store in the Czech Republic.
"I am pleased that we managed to keep our promise and offer our customers at least one million songs. t-music PLAY! was the largest digital music store since its inception. Now, we are also the most successful digital music store in terms of monthly sales, at least according to available information from music publishers," says Michal Nemec, Vice President Mobile Portal and Content Services of T-Mobile.
A year and a half after its establishment, t-music PLAY! offers over one million songs by more than 65,000 artists, which is by far the biggest selection on the Czech market, making it the most popular Czech digital music store.
"Monthly sales are on a significant upward trend. In July, the twenty-six-thousand-song mark was reached for the first time and I believe that further record-breaking results are yet to come," adds Michal Nemec.
Most customers prefer buying music directly on their handsets. They can download their favourite songs any time and anywhere and pay for them easily: with their mobile phones. They do not need to enter their payment card number or buy special vouchers, the price of the individual items is billed either in the regular monthly Statement of Services, or is deducted from the credit on their Twist card.
In the first half of the year, the most popular song was "Falling slowly" by the Czech-Irish duo Marketa Irglova and Glen Hansard. The Oscar-winning hit was downloaded by more than 8,000 customers. The number-one track of the second half of the year so far is "Violet Hill", the first single from Coldplay's new album. It has already been downloaded by almost 2,500 fans in less than one month.
t-music PLAY! also offers an interesting opportunity for bands featured on the www.stage.cz portal: they can offer their songs in the store too. The most successful of them have reported up to one hundred downloads in one month. t-music PLAY! will now start distributing the shares in the download fees. In addition, songs by "Stage artists" will soon be available for the special price of CZK 9.90. "We have thus fulfilled our second promise, namely that a part of our offer will be sold at favourable prices of less than CZK 10 so that it can reach a bigger number of music lovers," explains Michal Nemec.About the Company
