- Workshop topic: How to sell your project to the media or No need to be afraid of journalists
- Series of workshops starts in Prague on April 28
Prague, 1 April 2010 - In cooperation with the VIA Foundation, T-Mobile has organised public relations workshops for the non-profit sector. The goal of these workshops is to show representatives of non-profit organisations how the media work and what they can do to raise awareness of their projects. The first of the workshop series will take place at T-Mobile's headquarters in Prague's Roztyly district on April 28; entry for all non-profit organisations is free of charge.
"There are other ways to help than to provide financial aid. We would like to offer our support to non-profit organisations by helping them to promote their activities and to work with the media. There are many useful projects and they all need just one thing to be successful: greater awareness about them," says Martina Kemrova, Senior Head of Corporate Communication.
Many non-profit organisations do not have sufficient staff or know-how to present themselves in the media. Their interesting and important work is therefore not visible and escapes the attention of potential sponsors. "Donors cannot be blamed for choosing a more famous project. We want to fight against such media ?injustice' and convince the representatives of non-profit organisations that good cooperation with journalists will support their efforts to help," adds Jiri Barta, Executive Director of the VIA Foundation.
The seminar will provide mainly practical information on media skills: how to write a press release, things to remember during an interview with a journalist, how to communicate with the media and what to avoid, etc. Workshops will be presented by experienced journalists Tomas Fertek (formerly of Reflex) and Michal Musil (MF DNES).
A professional photographer will be present to take photos for participants' promotional materials or internet presentations. Entry is free of charge and the registration form is available at www.nadecevia.cz.
Those who cannot attend the workshops held in April will have other opportunities to take part, as the series will continue in the coming months, and not only in Prague. "After a successful launch, we would like to provide our professional help in other regions as well," adds Martina Kemrova.
