Prague, 7 July 2010 - T-Mobile has completed the rollout of the 3G network in another city. Beginning today, residents of Ceske Budejovice can enjoy high-speed mobile internet access. Following Prague, Plzen and Brno, Ceske Budejovice is the fourth Czech city covered with one of the world's most advanced 3G network.
High-speed mobile internet is now available to 95% of the residents of Ceske Budejovice. New as well as existing clients can also try this new service free of charge. When ordering the Surf+ or Surf&Mail+ add-on, contract customers can browse the internet for one month free of charge. For users of prepaid Twist cards, the operator has prepared a free two-week trial of the Twist Surf+ service. The offer applies to the first activation of these bundles.
T-Mobile uses the Nokia Siemens Networks technology based on the HSPA standard, which theoretically enables download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps.
This summer 3G services will also be extended to other regional towns. Residents of Olomouc, Pardubice, Usti nad Labem, Hradec Kralove, Liberec, Ostrava and Karlovy Vary will enjoy fast mobile internet access by the end of September. In total, thirty major towns in the Czech Republic should be covered by the end of this year.
The UMTS TDD network now offers faster transmission speeds
To complete the offer of improved internet services, T-Mobile has prepared a free gift for all customers using the UMTS TDD service (formerly offered under the name Internet 4G) for browsing the web: the maximum transmission speeds under the relevant tariff plans were doubled at the beginning of July.
With the Internet Premium plan, users can download data at speeds of up to two megabits per second. The Internet Basic and Standard plans, and their prepaid Twist Internet variant, offer download speeds of up to one megabit per second.
